A Chicago fundraiser brought in $50,000 on Friday to help earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan! Local restaurateur and bar owner, Billy Dec, organized the event at his restaurant Sunda.
Dec was visiting Southeast Asia when the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan. He was scheduled to visit Japan shortly after, but plans changed after the devastating tragedy.
Dec decided to help by holding a big a fundraiser when he returned to Chicago. He partnered with The Japanese American Citizens League, The Japanese American Service Committee and the Filipino American Network to raise money for Direct Relief International and help recovery in Japan.
